WebI need to be able to measure the rotation of the belt as well as lateral translation. So I could use a rotary encoder on one of the rollers and a linear encoder on the rail... or just an optical mouse sensor to track X and Y movement of the belt. That one sensor can do the job of two other sensors and at much higher temporal and spatial resolution.
